Celebrating Lavender and Artisan Collaboration

... there were few options for showcasing our lavender in sachets.

Many years ago, I had the privilege of establishing one of the first lavender farms in California (2006). At the time, there were few options for showcasing our lavender in sachets. For many years, we chose simple yet elegant organza material. Though I cherished this choice, I hoped to find an artist who shared my passion for lavender to create something even more special. That hope turned into reality when I met Alice, the creative force behind Alice’s Cottage.

Meeting Alice marked the beginning of a new, curated path for our lavender—a path filled with creativity and fragrance. Our collaboration has been incredibly fulfilling, and I am thrilled to share with you these delicate linen works of art that bring the aromatic essence of our lavender fields into your home and heart.

**About Alice: The Artist Behind Alice’s Cottage**
Believe it or not, Alice’s Cottage started 40 years ago on Alice’s kitchen table. From a single idea, it blossomed into a globally recognized business. However, the true beginning was in her childhood, constantly creating with her hands, making doll clothes from scrap fabric with a needle and thread. Her mother later taught her to use a sewing machine, a skill that would prove invaluable.

After marrying, Alice and her husband moved to the Blue Ridge Mountains of western Maryland. Inspired by her lifelong love of nature, fabrics, and art, the business took shape and eventually moved from her kitchen table to a 19th-century summer kitchen on their property. There, Alice designed and sewed all the new items. As her ideas grew, so did the product line, proudly sewn by talented local seamstresses.

Alice is continually creating new artwork, drawing inspiration from the natural surroundings of her home. Her original watercolors are silk-screened onto many products, with the entire manufacturing process—art creation, pattern drafting, fabric cutting, design screening, and sewing—taking place in western Maryland.

Although no longer working from the summer kitchen and now in larger quarters, Alice’s Cottage maintains a personal touch and dedication to quality and affordability, thanks to Alice's husband and dedicated team.

With gratitude and thanks,
Alice Goebel Backman

Through this joint venture, Alice and I are excited to offer you not only quality products but also a connection to our creative journeys, bringing beauty and fragrance into your lives.
